What Is Commissioning?
Building Commissioning is a design and construction review process that assures that all building systems operate properly.
Some institutional Owners now require commissioning on all new projects; Fundamental Commissioning is a prerequisite for LEED certification. Commissioning may be applied to all building systems and components but is most often applied to MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems.

Commissioning Key Benefits
- If completed before final acceptance of a new building, commissioning will greatly reduce contractor call-backs and complaints.
- If completed after final acceptance, commissioning will provide a valuable guide to the contractor correcting operation problems.
- Due to contractual disconnects between the a/e team and the building contractor, a gap between design and performance exists. Commissioning bridges that gap to assure fully-functional building systems.
